Brassica juncea is grown in around 7 million hectares of land in the North-western parts of India during post rainy season. India is ranked 3rd largest producer of Rapeseed Mustard in the world accounting 11.3% of production (7.0 million tons) after Canada and China. Indian mustard having potential upto3.5 ton per hectare with bold seeded and up to 42% oil content. It holds a premium position in Rapeseed Mustard economy of the world with 2nd and 3rd rank in area and production, respectively.
ICAR–Directorate of Rapeseed and Mustard Research (DRMR) is the apex institute in the country overseeing the popularization and improvement of this crop, it has a pivotal role to play in making the country self-sufficient in edible oil production. The Government of Rajasthan set up State Institute of Agriculture Management (SIAM) in 1993 as premier state level Institute catering the needs of extension, training and applied research in agriculture sector.
On behalf of the International Seminar on Oilseed Brassica (ISOB), ICAR-Directorate of Rapeseed-Mustard Research (DRMR), under the aegis of State Institute of Agriculture Management (SIAM) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) are hosting ISOB 2017 at Jaipur, Rajasthan. The ISOB 2017 will be the premium gathering for oilseed Brassica Researchers, policy makers and other stakeholders during Feb 23-26, 2017 at Jaipur, Rajasthan Mustard State of India.
