Professional experience : I grew up on a 1,800-acre grain farm near Kinsella, Alberta, where I’ve been actively involved in farming and agronomy for over 15 years, with a focus on canola production. I completed a PhD in Plant Developmental Biology at the University of Calgary, specializing in trait development targeting canola seed quality and pod shatter resistance using genome editing. Since 2021, I have been leading AgGene, a plant biotechnology startup focused on developing novel traits in canola through gene editing and mutagenesis. I am also active as a technical development consultant with Hechenbichler GmbH, supporting their biostimulant portfolio in Western Canada since 2022.
